A very humble selection of movies I really enjoyed - in no particular order
► Movies that have left a deep impact on me. A humble selection. Unedited. This is time consuming.
Just a little foreword: Directors and actors can help us into understanding the oppressive society we live in. Their genius often inspired by great writers is of essential value. They look at art, history, the contemporary for us and in very subtle ways show us the strategies employed.They as all artist help us in making a better world. Here are a couple that I have selected for you. The ones that have inspired me.
Except his last one. I didn't get nothing out of it. So vague.
Many of his movies are inspired by great writers which I also have read. Well most of them. Never say all of them.
His main body of work has helped us understand the American military establishment, how it works, its goals, its mastery at psychological warfare and how military institutions work in general. In other words(i.e.), its cunningness as well as its genius. He analyzed as nobody else could. His themes were always related with society, oppression and its strategies to that last goal. His movies are basics to understanding society in general.
Rowan Atkinson's Black Adder. Especially: Season 4 Undoubtly the best critic and Genius ever to have walk on this planet.
Also the short series in Alfred Hitchcock Presents. Some are even better than his movies. Mind boggling understanding of the human mind on a personal level.
All Akira Kurosawa movies. Especially: Ran The Hidden Fortress which is the inspiration for R2D2 and C3PO about two idiots wandering about. Also the princess:-) The Idiot: A Dostoevsky interpretation. Seven Samurai gives us a great insight into Japanese feudalism. Not the best of films but a good starter if you want to understand Japanese culture.
Kurosawa was one of the greatest idealists of the last century, with all its shortcomings as well.
I've also enjoyed so much M.A.S.H. with Alan Alda which is according to my humble scholarship a great existentialist even better than Woody Allen. See Alda's movies. They are superb. Of course with all the setbacks of existentialism. I've just laid a mine for you if you didn't notice!
I am not well acquainted with French cinema. I tend to drop off in the middle of the movie. Often too intellectual for me. My favorite French actor is of course Jean Gabin, Jean Reno, Jean-Paul Belmondo et Gerard Depardieu. You have guessed who my preferred actrice is, which I have had the honor to meet and speak to. I won't tell you what she told me when I touched her:-) That's top-secret. She's a Genius. If you can guess you will get 100 Euro from me. It's not what you think.
Very Kubrick-like into understanding the American establishment. The best documentary maker I have come across. Also Zola'esque documentary making. A master at displaying.
A Rachel Grady and Heidi Ewing documentary called Jesus Camp. It's a unique documentary about christian fundamentalism in the U.S.
Dark Star. A master piece of cinematography. It's Theatrical! The Bad Seed. A must see! Which gives us a good understanding of the female gender at its worst. Outlander. Supreme science-fiction. The best attempt at science-fiction yet. It’s a complete logical sci-fi. It's TW onscreen. Evil Dead. I am not into the horror genre. This one though has changed my life for ever! Two-Lane Blacktop. Stylistic cinematography at its best. Bagdad Café. Some directors have an undaunting faith in the human kind. Heartbreaking and spiritual, proof that everything is possible. Hamburger Hill. The Man Who Would Be King. Great movie and great book by Kipling. Sean Connery is such a great actor. How To Get Ahead In Advertising. Wow, this one a must see! I just love advertising. Full Metal Jacketwhich is the third best Vietnam movie ever also from Kubrick. I am the drill sergeant! Hamburger Hill is number one according to my humble scholarship and Jacob's Ladder number two. The Deer Hunter is also quite good. A little exaggerated though. Don't forget First Blood. A great script and Stallone a genius. He wouldn't hurt a fly and First Blood it was! The rest of the series well is let's say not so good to be polite.
Hand of God
The next one comes from a Chinese exiled to Taiwan and Hong-Kong based director. It is one of the most superb stylistic movies ever made if not the best. Western cinema owes so much to Japanese, Korean and Hong-Kong movies. Very often the directors don't mention their sources. I am a big lover of Asian cinema as well as Japanese cinema which is not Asian dear readers.
A Touch Of Zen by King Hu. Unbelievable stuff really. I've of course seen all his movies, which from now on be referred to as Of course…
Ben Kingsley is such an actor when it comes to embodiment of his subject. He played so well Gandhi. Nobody on this earth could do a better job than he did. Death And The Maiden is also great as many others. Maybe the best actor of this world. He's so irritating though some times; when he gets sentimental.
And of course just to be irritating I like Steven Seagal too. Is he not the inspiration for Chewbaca? One of his Ecology movies was quite good. Forgot the title.
Down By Law with the very sexy and young Ellen Barkin. MY favorite actrice. She only marries multi-millionaires though. A pity. Jim Jarmusch is so great. His movies are indescribable. Poetry in motion. Of course... You must see them. Get onboard!
Jacob's Ladder with Tim Robbins a long time ago. I was disappointed with his last movie. JL is about agent orange!
I of course love Vampire movies and you have guessed I love Béla Lugosi. He's such a junky! The one and only.

Last Days by director Gus Van Sant. A bizarre film director. Still Last Days will remain engraved for ever in my memory! Of course...
I can't start naming all the Japanese and Hong-Kong movies I have seen. I just forgot the titles. Most of them I saw in olm. They often have many names. Besides it would be off the point. I am just naming a couple that changed my life. Always look in olm whence you can.
Patton is my most favorite general and right he was although not always the brightest. He has a couple of unnecessary casualties on his karma. Don't get shell-shock on me! He's a Genius. You dumbf*cks don't deserve better anyway.
Marilyn Monroe last movie is also great. The Misfits is very good cinematography! Great theme about relinquishers. Why aren't all woman like her? The perfect maid.
The Godfather Trilogy. Not just your average gangster movie! Part 3 is my favorite.
If ever you have time don't forget to look at some of the masterpieces of the 40's and 50's in the genre noire as well. One of them is:
Beautiful movie with American intellectual Dustin Hoffman in his early days: Midnight Cowboy. Dustin is great although he misses the point very often. A good heart is not enough in this world!

Last Train To Freo. That's what you call a Masterpiece. The best homage yet to Becket. An Australian avant-garde cinematographical achievement of unequivocal achievement. See! a good movie brings a good sentence!
Bill Murray is such a stand up! Have you seen Lost In Translation? Coppola is quite a good director. Yes! which brings me to the lovely Scarlett Johanson which has played in some very good movies of the last ten years. I hope she's well coached and tutored? Some great movies recently are: A Love Song For Bobby Long with Travolta a great actor and dancer! Scoop with Woody Allen a sometimes great director. Still that guy got some problems!
Did you know that Ghostbusters 3 is due for 2012? I am actually looking forward to that!
Solaris form the good old soviet days! It's maybe the best what communism had to offer to us. At least they made one good movie.
Underground by master cinematographer Emir Kusturica A very emotional display of repression and its strategies in former Yugoslavia.
Fellini I just can't watch. It's too intellectual! Maybe I get to it one day. Yes I did see the occasional movie from him. Don't remember about a marriage on the Italian country side:-)
Let's get black!
Samuel L. Jackson a great actor and philanthropist!? I've enjoyed so much his movies. He's such a hard working man. You can fit him anywhere. He'll get your moving going. That's what you call black!
Morgan Freeman a heartfelt sublime movie star. All his films are great. That's what you call African American! Lately thought he has become quite negative. It's a a pity. He wasn't always like that.
Bahamian born Sydney Poitier is a daunty one. He's played in some great classics in very difficult times for example in The Defiant Ones and another one I can't find when he gets arrested in a county jail, being a policeman. My favorite. Can't find it on Wikipedia either. Damn my memory! Almost a relic of the past.
Sirocco the best Bogart movie. It's far ahead of its time. It's about gun dealing! There is always one Bogart movie that you haven't seen yet!
Hotel Rwanda an unforgettable movie. Not for the faint-hearted here. Its genocide all the way! Some people actually still bother to bring out some of the problems in Africa. A must see! The result of poverty and oppression.
The best Fidel movie yet. Superb and honest bio-doc-movie-making. It’s a unique movie into understanding Fidel Castro.
You're into China? Raise The Red Lantern will get you off your chair. It's about concubines:-) Beautiful cinematography.
The Human Condition of Japanese make gives us a good understanding into Chinese communism, Japanese Second World War oppression and it's done for you in the most artistic possible way. Highly idealistic though and such a long movie! Great stuff. Basics to understanding China and very philosophical! Which also reminds me of a great book called Wild Swans by Jung Chang. It's a feminist and historical piece of Art! And such narration, reads like a rollercoaster. It's a gem of information!

When you are about to retire don't forget to see The World's Fastest Indian with Anthony Hopkins. He is so entertaining and an amazing actor. He can get your spirit into the right spirit!
Michael Caine too can inspire. Death Trap is very good. One of his better movies. I just love Helga. It's an Ira Levin adaptation. I've read all his books. The Boys From Brazil is my favorite.
Have you seen Cromwell? the best movie on the great statesman Oliver Cromwell. It's a masterpiece of English cinema. And such drama!
Mrs. Miniver a must see! Did Hitler really loose the war in Russia? Great insight into British culture and Churchill. He's not in it though.
Sometimes directors attempt at alternative history. What would have happened if Hitler had won the war? Can't remember that movie from a great documentary maker, that I just can't remember. The result is just off the planet. Its proof that he never could have won the war.
Hiroshima Mon Amour is a beautiful portrayal of post war Japan. A Touch Of Evil from Orson Welles a great movie. Gives us yet again a good understanding of the American establishment. That guy's weird! This movie though I will remember.
Trainspotting gives us a good insight into Scotland nowadays with all its problems. They are improving though maybe thanks to that movie!
John Ford is such a good director. Fort Apache gives us a great understand into the U.S. cavalry and Indian relations, beautiful, truthful. You'll just have to see between the lines.
Season 6 continues on Ulysses V. The latest entry is called"Some Godly words in the aftermath of Whitney's death" and can be read on"the Texian Space Port for your Sooouuul!". That’s the previous entry to this one!
Season 6 is a kind of breakthrough for me. Having faced a lot of legal problems in recent years and still do due to the stupidity of Dutch laws and the corruption of the police department including the corruption of civil servants in general and their compensation for their pitiful feelings, I am now feeling slightly better and ready to continue my crusade against the stupidity of "The Brave New World" in which we live, often with success!
The reason for this is very simple. I just let GOD pass through me and his LOVE for US and act as medium to his CREATION.

Sometimes I am like a preacher and simply preach A SIMPLE LIFE. Never forget NATURE is our most thankful INSPIRATION.
A LIFE ACCORDING TO IT IS THE MOST REWARDING POSSIBILITY IN THIS UNIVERSE.

A very ungrateful job in a certain WAY which has forced me to have bounds with the UNDERWORLD as well. I am still in a slight Blues. It's almost gone. Weird. I didn't know Whitney had influenced my life to such an extent and I never even bothered to do some research on her.
I never met her and can not anymore add her to my Hall of Fame meetings. I had the chance a long time ago. If I remember rightly my ex-wife took my place and did meet her. Meeting famous people is about sharing love. Everybody can if they wish.
Just ask for an appointment and bring some love with you. The stress of fame is what they want to forget.

I asked for her which was already a sign that I wasn't completely faithful to my wife. She was already my second wife. I should have listened to Yoko. She was against the marriage), Yehudi Menuhin, Nina Hagen, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Neil Young(A very kind person), President Bill Clinton, Wim Kok, Serge Gainsbourg(He came to my grandmother's house when I was on holidays there. Must have been 1984), Rocco Siffredi(The Italian Stallion), Quentin Tarantino, Whitney Houston(I can't remember if I met her or my ex-wife did or that we both met her), President Jacques Chirac(You won't believe this. I am responsible via my father for abolishing the military service in France. My father later said even that it even though he first discouraged it once I was certain he actually insisted knowing that eventually I would regret it later. All by all it is a good step and was replaced by a very good professional army. President Jacques Chirac came by military jet to a small air force base in the South-East of France and from thereon was escorted by helicopter and landed on a special cloth, surrounded by French secret service in the garden of my father. The whole operation cost the French tax payer about a million dollars was later said to me. Nevertheless the French military has a serious professional army nowadays and you don't walk over them. They stand to DEATH if necessary just as the American or UK army does), Boy George(I had an encounter with him even though I liked his music), Wim Kok, Bob Dylan(I didn’t go to his concert in Den-Haag. He came to ME in Amsterdam in 1988 or 1989), Woody Allen(He is of the kindest nature possible when he doesn’t get too understanding), Yasser Arafat(in the days when he was exiled from Palestina. I asked him to take off his headware. He did. I inspected his skull. He was very friendly. His nickname was THE SNAKE), Khadaffi(recently murdered, a criminal, nevertheless he did take reasonably good care of his country and deserved a fair trial), Madonna(this was not an appointment. I met her on the street. She used to have a dependency in Amsterdam), the lead singer of Madness(I can’t remember his name) and quite a few more that I have to dig up, David Bowie(often it was a friend of mine who wanted to meet his idol as in this case. So I arranged it). This was in the time I was living in Belgium and even met Jean-Paul the Second, the Polish Pope, via that same friend when he came to Belgium, meaning that same friend though that I should meet the Pope:-), Jimmy Cliff(I was living in a small commune led by a Congolese witch woman. I saved her life once from the Ivorian mafia. If I remember rightly she arranged it). Don't think these all criminals. Some are, some are not and some I cannot disclose due to the Al Qaeda attacks. You would be surprised what society preaches. And quite a few more of international fame. As I said often it was a friend of mine who wanted to meet their idol. Sometimes it was me. If I remember rightly I even met Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie during my Belgium time. Muhammad Ali my own greatest idol I can’t remember if I did or didn’t meet him. He is now so old. I don’t think he would have anything from it even though he still quietly very present. I did meet Jean-Paul Belmondo via my grandmother(meaning she arranged it) when I was very young and Louis de Funès as well as a couple of other famous French celebrities.
Oh, and just for the record I do not believe in silence. The world is slowly getting a better place that is not due to silence. And as I said before you would be surprised who you can all meet if you simply ask for an appointment. Many times if you have something serious to share. You will get one. Of course FOLK LAW does help. There is just one rule in it. One must be prepared to die for ones own dreams.
I am also partly responsible together with the Dutch police for cleaning out a great part of the Dutch mafia in Holland, including the feared Yugoslavian mafia that had come during the Civil War and found refuge in naive land. Personally I feel betrayed by the Dutch police, who on their side wanted a further decriminalization, to such an extent that it would have broken human rights laws. I declined and thanks God I have them under the hood. Meaning legal steps from my side would put them away, which ensures my freedom.
My dream remains to become one day the President of the US, the greatest United Confederation in the World. My first aim would be to invade Africa and then restrain Europe in its hypocritical stupidity. The main goal would be to abolish nations and create a United States of the Planet. History went wrong when General Patton was betrayed. It was the time to invade Russia. The Russian army was completely defeated and the climate was pro-US everywhere. The whole cold war would have been prevented including its arms race and world hegemony a step closer. Nobody listened to him and he was murdered. It’s more easy than it seems to create a US of the Planet. The US remains popular throughout the world due to its fundament: The Pilgrims.
Due to me having broken all the laws of every possible law book in the world it is a difficult achievement. Still I know it’s possible. Honesty and God are my inspirators.

I knew that Whitney Houston was very religious. I guess that was the strength of her songs and she did convey some religious sound through the world. I didn’t know it was that religious!
I guess that’s why I followed her career. Behind her is the message of the Gospel as far as I could understand yesterday on the funeral procession. I am not so Jesus Christ. Still obviously she did have a connection with the Divine. So I found out that she lured me Yesterday to her Church. That is so sweet of her.
It’s a complete package somehow these Baptist gatherings. God, Marketing, Soul and Sound.
In that sense the former slaves of the US must have thought that if we are gonna build a Church then why not base it on the music industry. A revolutionary concept that we whites could have as well done. We didn’t and we lost the PR on credibility.
The high expectations of negro sound in it, though, is a cause of death for Whitney. This was very clear in the Church service.
Having said that, most of us whites have completely betrayed our roots. It started when we started buying records of the Beatles. It’s not music anymore. That’s the problem. John Lennon is a different story. Still the Beatles are one of the major reasons for the downfall of white music in the popular segments of society.
You can’t JUST make music like that. It has something to do with God and Spirituality. Many of us have forgotten this. This remains the strength of the leftovers of the Religious sound coming forth from the US.
Somehow these Baptist gathering even though, much too strict for me, have the wonder of SOUND.
They could lower their expectations of their SINGERS. It would do them some credit.
It was a long service in theory and not much space for tears. Whitney was not to be seen or really much felt or even heard until the coffin.
It was a funeral for the Godfathers and a couple of Godmothers basically. There were some very beautiful voices to be heard and a couple of touching moments. Far too few for over 4 hours time, even though it seemed like a one and half hour transmission.
After the funeral I felt in riot mood. I guess that’s because of the private nature of the funeral and the cause of death of Whitney Houston. In reality a revolution should have happened after that in the whole of the US.
I though the only one who was completely sincere was Stevie Wonder somehow. Alicia Keys was crying a lot. Still looked more like comedy to me. Obviously she was in a dissenting mood. It gets boring after a while. She did convey an unusual song and is almost too talented for main stream listeners.
Stevie Wonder though really felt bad.
I am sure that he knew that part of the reason for her death was also present in this Baptist congregation.
Yes politics also crept into Church Land together with some serious marketing which is not the worst part of the deal as I mentioned earlier. Politics though are more than unforgiving. I always say Church would be a popular place if they altered it slightly. That’s what they did to a certain extent.
The women control the Church more or less and have such high expectations of life that some actually go for it as Whitney did and it destroyed her personal life.
All by all I would say the Baptist Church has some serious credit. They could lower their expectations. It would have made Whitney Houston a more happy person. That’s for sure.
The other side is when it comes to sound. These kind of roots have it all and WHO CAN IGNORE THAT ANY SERIOUS NEW VOCAL INGENUITY CAME FROM THESE SAME ROOTS.
As I said something real bad happened to Whitney when she was young. They mentioned it very quickly in the beginning of the service. So they gave her an outlet for it through the music industry. Very cool and caring.
It’s not even that she was so talented in voice. Often it felt slightly forced. It’s that there was no other place for her.
Whitney was hooked and felt real bad about it. Couldn’t find serious love in her life. It’s a Drama. That’s why I feel sad.
I expected there would be more space for tears, next to the singing as well. It’s not really in the Baptist system. One must unconditionally show happiness more than sadness, as the preachers continuously said during the service.
Alright enough Whitney. I guess all my words are just to conceal your loss. I just can’t get over it. As I said before. It’s a f*cking disaster. I rather forget it.
Rarely does the world lose such a Diva and more. Maybe the last of a kind.

Was away for a little a while. Too busy. So busy that I only noticed this morning to my distress that WHITNEY HOUSTON died. THIS CAN’T BE TRUE.
Just recently I commented on her as “poor Whitney”. She wasn’t build for fame. This I knew. That she would die. This is unexpected.

These were my DISCO DAYS secretly next to my SKA DAYS!
Of course I never openly said I liked her DISCO in those days! It was of the highest commercialism and had to keep in mind my less commercial friends. It was also just after SKA with bands like THE SPECIALS and MADNESS and yes I was a RUDE BOY and still am.
Was a serious criminals in those days. My friends were mainly dealers carrying MIAMI VICE automated weapons in OLD AMSTERDAM. I only carried an Ivorian-handled knife which I got for free from an arms dealer. Thanks God.
I do miss OLD AMSTERDAM. Most of the friends of my youth are either dead or in for murder or are lucky to be free again. FOLK LAW does have some advantages sometimes, even though should not be abused of.

Poetry is like a 100 meter dash
I am your Chagall in words. I paint in text as chisels carve a statue to new heights to wuthering heights. Poetry is short. It is like a 100m dash! When I write I have to be really inspired. The moment has to be right. It has to be a dash of truth. It has to be an eloquent tribute to the human mind as we know it. Poetry is very tiring to write down. Prose is not the same. Poetry stays somehow hanging on the ceiling as an achievement, as a new milestone of words, as a new sharing of thoughts that is made possible through the script and the caller, the reader. YOU.
We share our minds and hearts and elevate ourselves through it.
► I tweaked the template Minima Black which was originally called Dark Minima designed by Douglas Bowman. It’s such a great design he did!
Blogger changed its interface slightly with new templates. So, now was the time for a new adaptation. I changed it significantly. Also in design. My new name for it is the Dark Typewriter Template.
The most important new feature, besides it being three ways, is that you can use it with Blogger’s template designer introduced in 2010 using the advanced tab. With it you can fully customize the fonts, sizes, colors, hyperlinks from within the template designer WHEREVER YOU WANT + many more changes. I added many more variables that can be customized. More than thirty in total.
To change the screen layout you will still have to edit the template itself. As you see it is 200px + 470px + 260px for a 1024 * 768 layout. Margin is 12px. Just basic scripting skills are needed here. I didn't manage doing that. I compared the new templates and extracted what I could understand. The new screen layout is not really compatible.
Basically it’s meant to look Oldskool and still be able to comply with the sharing networks and Blogger's new adjustments. It’s meant to last a little while. It’s meant to look ASCII kind of style, not flashy or anything like that. It’s meant to look like an old text editor!
